The largest Europe’s conference for women in photography will take place in Manchester on the 20th – 22nd of March.
When I saw last year that Laura and Sarah Wood were organizing a conference for women photographers in Manchester I immediately wanted to be part of it. It seemed like such a great opportunity to be able to meet amazing women and share what drives us for 3 days in this beautiful city. I contacted them to submit what I wanted to teach and share with other photographers – the Art of Capturing Emotions & Connections during family sessions and weddings – and I was so happy and stunned when they announced me that I’ve been chosen to speak amongst internationally published and awarded women from all over the world. It will be my first class teaching and it feels incredible to be part of this amazing event, gathering people to grow their skills and businesses together and to learn from people’s experiences.
The Phlock Live event will take place in Manchester from the 20-22 March 2020 at the Midland Hotel and if you want to be part of it, you need to get your ticket as soon as possible because they are selling fast.
You have the choice to either get a ticket for the whole 3 days or to choose the classes you want to attend. Here is the link to book your tickets on Phlock website. And here’s some good news, if you get your ticket today, on the 21th February before midnight, use the code CORALIE15 at the checkout for a 15% discount on your ticket!
If you are a woman starting your photography business or if you’ve already been a photographer for years but you feel like you need to improve your skills, be inspired and want to meet new people to boost your creativity, Phlock Live is the right event for you. It already has an amazing community of supportive female photographers that you should join on Facebook.
I’ve participated in many workshops in the past and I’ve always come back from them with a different point of view on why I was photographing people. Every speaker has a different experience to teach you and every person you’ll talk to will inspire you in a new way with their own story. You will probably make a lot of friends and some of them might become best friends. The ones that truly understand what it is to work from home and what it’s like to be mostly alone will help you get through the frustrations that you will be facing, that will be here to help you choose the photos for a new blog post and also guide you to look at your work with a different perspective.
I have met so many friends through workshops and conferences that helped me grow as a business and as a person and I know that I also helped them which feels great. I know that I will meet new friends at Phlock Live and I’m super excited about it!
If you already have your ticket to the event, you are one of the lucky ones who will be immersed in the knowledge and experience of incredible photographers and even if you didn’t take my class, please don’t be shy and come say hello, I’d love to meet you. I’m sure that I have so much to learn from you and if I can help you in any way it would make me really happy (even if it’s just to tell you my favourite places to eat in Manchester ha!).
About my class “The Art of Capturing Emotions & Connections”
The Inspire class I’m gonna be teaching at Phlock on Friday the 20th at 4pm, is all about creating trust and a relationship with the people I photograph to capture emotions and connections between them.
Photographing people is a great privilege. It means that they invite you to share a part of their life and trust your vision to photograph their story. I know that some photographers can be a bit afraid because you need the ability to put people at ease, be confident about the way you’re gonna guide them and take a great picture that they’re gonna love. For these reasons it can be a lot of pressure but if you are confident about your skills and practice it can be a lot of fun!
During the class, I’ll show you how do I built trust with my clients from the first email until after I deliver the final gallery. You will see the entire process of a session. From how do I get ready before the family session or wedding, what do I need, what do I ask them. How do I put them at ease during the shoot so I can capture meaningful memories for them, and the way I select and process my photos until the final gallery.
You will also be able to see me doing a live shoot with a family/couple (you can drop me a message with what you would prefer) for 45 minutes. It’s gonna be a short session but it will allow you to see how I photograph people in real and listen to me guiding them.
Then, depending on the time that we’ll have, I can review some of your portfolios and help you make choices, tell you what works and what you could possibly improve. I know that it can be hard for some of you to share your photos but constructive criticism is always really helpful to grow and I promise to be nice and respectful.
After the class, you will also receive a PDF with all the info we talked about, plus some worksheets to develop some of your skills at home.
